Shelly is a graduate student in the area of developmental psychology at the University of California, Riverside. She has been involved with ACE-UCR since 2005 when she worked with the Center as an undergraduate research assistant. Her primary research interest is in adolescent risky decision making as it relates to problem behaviors. Specifically, she is interested in examining how youths changing threshold for risk over the adolescent and emerging adult years is moderated by biological and social influences, and how such findings may inform prevention and intervention efforts. Shelly is also interested in qualitative data collection. Upon successful completion of her doctoral program in 2013, Shelly plans to continue conducting research as a professor of psychology.
